The Development and Effects of Communication Improvement Education Program for Nurses and Physicians in Nursing care Integrated Service ward

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop Communication Improvement Education Program and identify effects of the program for nurses and physicians working in hospital.

Methods: This study was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design on 109 nurses and one group pretest-posttest design on 23physicians. Data were collected from April 2017 to August 2017. A Communication Improvement Education Program was applied on 54nurses and 23physicians three times for 4months. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0.

Results: The physician group showed increasing communication ability score and decreasing relationship conflict after Communication Improvement Education Program completion and had a statistically significant(p=.036). The experimental group showed higher score(88.46¡¾7.45) in communication ability compared to the control group(83.51¡¾7.58) and showed a statistically significant difference(p=.001).

Conclusion: The Communication Improvement Education Program was proved effectiveness in improving communication ability for nurses and physicians working in Nursing care Integrated Service ward. Further research on the application Communication Improvement Education Program over 3times that can improve communication skill and relationship conflict score and that program is essential for nurses and physicians.
